rabies, malaria, hep a-g and other things to look forward to

written november 21 2007

cambodia, vietnam, thailand, laos and australia...maybe singapore, bali too. things to keep in mind: no spitting, drug taking, gum chewing, mosquito biting, no land mine blowing upping and no tap water drinking (this includes but is not limited to ice cube using). i have decided that it’s very important not to get or bring japanese encephalitis, cholera and typhoid back home. i think it would be a very unkind souvenir, however, hepatitis f and g are not horrible for you and they clear up quickly, so that wouldn’t be the worst thing to bring back. better than an ugly hat and at least with an infectious disease you have a better story...so really, i’d be doing you a favor. maybe i bought the wrong travel guide...oh yeah, yeah i did. i totally missed the subtitle “everything you didn’t know you should be afraid of when traveling and supposedly trying to have fun.” damn, i really should have looked at this more thoroughly. this is an adventure that i can say i am terribly afraid of...but if i wasn’t, then what kind of adventure would that be?
