cat pee = baking
so, to stray from the general topic of this here blog thing is not something i really thought about until i became the best baker in the world. basically, my cat got locked in my bedroom one day and peed on my bed. this meant that i had to sleep in my sister's room while i waited for a new mattress. because i didn't really like just hanging out in her room, i decided to bake some things. now, i guess to be completely truthful, i would have to tell you that a lady i work with baked these raspberry chocolate turnovers, gave me one and i decided i wanted to make them and couldn't stop baking, but i won't tell you that because forever in my mind, cat pee = baking. while i now have a new bed, i still want to bake. yesterday i decided to make chocolate cake cookies with orange butter cream icing. i looked on the internet for recipes but then discovered i had no cake mix at home....yadda yadda yadda...i made chocolate mini cupcakes with a caramel better cream/cream cheese icing. as you read this i hear you saying "oh snap!" and to that i say, "yes, yes they were excellent, thank you for the snap."

rabies, malaria, hep a-g and other things to look forward to
written november 21 2007
cambodia, vietnam, thailand, laos and australia...maybe singapore, bali too. things to keep in mind: no spitting, drug taking, gum chewing, mosquito biting, no land mine blowing upping and no tap water drinking (this includes but is not limited to ice cube using). i have decided that it’s very important not to get or bring japanese encephalitis, cholera and typhoid back home. i think it would be a very unkind souvenir, however, hepatitis f and g are not horrible for you and they clear up quickly, so that wouldn’t be the worst thing to bring back. better than an ugly hat and at least with an infectious disease you have a better story...so really, i’d be doing you a favor. maybe i bought the wrong travel guide...oh yeah, yeah i did. i totally missed the subtitle “everything you didn’t know you should be afraid of when traveling and supposedly trying to have fun.” damn, i really should have looked at this more thoroughly. this is an adventure that i can say i am terribly afraid of...but if i wasn’t, then what kind of adventure would that be?
100 days, or how to be lazy
written november 12 2007
Korea bound in 100 days (give or take) That is an ugly number from where i sit right now. I remember in school when there was the 100th day at school and everyone had to bring in 100 of something (pennies, peanuts, buttons etc.) 100 days couldn’t come soon enough and i am feeling the same way now, but this time there will be more than just pennies and shoelaces waiting for me on the other side of 100. This is the first time that i’ve counted down the days and i am thinking perhaps it wasn’t a good idea...a “few months” sounds way better. People keep asking me if i have booked my flight and where else i/we have decided to go. Blah! i am starting to hate these questions because i don’t know the answer to either. In the beginning i was looking at flights and then a few things (dates) needed to be changed and i sort of got disheartened because nothing seems to be set in stone and it’s really hard to look forward to something you are so unsure of. i guess i am also sort of lazy when it comes to planning things so big, not that i’ve planned such a big thing before. so i guess i just have to make a decision about price and dates and go for it
